Example's birth name is Elliot Gleave. His performing name goes back to his schooldays, when a friend nicknamed him 'Example' from his initials, E.G. His first release was the 2007 mixtape "We Didn't Invent The Remix", followed by his official debut album "What We Made" (2007, on The Beats) and "What We Almost Made" (2008). After 2008 he took a fresh, more versatile direction, crossing into electro and dance music with collaborators such as Don Diablo. Championed by Radio 1's Zane Lowe, his singles "Watch The Sun Come Up" and "Won't Go Quietly" both charted, and his 2011 album "Playing in the Shadows" (Ministry of Sound) spawned the hits "Changed the Way You Kiss Me", "Stay Awake" and "Midnight Run". He is a rapper and singer from Fulham, West London.
